Cloth for government offices in Telangana to come from Sircilla

Rajanna-Sircilla: All cloth required for government departments will be produced by Sircilla weavers, who will get orders in advance, Commissioner and Director of Handlooms and Jute Shailaja Ramayyar said on Saturday.

The Commissioner held a review meeting with the members of SSI units to discuss about the progress of the production of Bathukamma sarees at Polyester Bhavan here on Saturday. Out of 6.11 crore m cloth required for the sarees, 3.75 crore m is being produced in Sircilla. The remaining 2.36 crore m will be brought from outside, Ramayyar said. The entire cloth will be produced in Sircilla from next year onwards, she said.

When the Commissioner asked that how many metres of cloth would be ready by September 5, SSI representatives informed that so far 2.75 crore m saree cloth was weaved and the remaining 1 crore m will be completed before the deadline.

Ramayyar also met with the representatives of Max societies. Joint Director of Handlooms Poornachander Rao, General Manager Yadagiri AD Narayana, Ads Thrimurthulu and Ashok Rao and attended the meeting.
