People today understand handloom better than in the past, says designer Aniket Sinha

Designer Aniket Sinha of the brand RAR Studio says that on account of continuous efforts of the government, people today are more educated about what the handloom is compared to the past.

“The Indian government is doing a great job in bringing handlooom to the forefront and the result is that people are more educated now,” Sinha says.

He says that he also wants to give a new high to Chanderi craft as handloom. “We really want to do something positive on Chanderi; that’s why we are working with some weavers in Chanderi (in Madhya Pradesh). We also have 45 looms there and we try to give as much work as possible to these weavers because they have such a wonderful knowledge of handloom,” he added.

The brand unveiled their collection Bagicha AW 17 at Anantam store here. Sinha, who owns the brand along with Ritesh Rajpoot and Rishav Sinha, launched this couture/luxury pret brand that includes ethnic designs with a touch of contemporary twist.

“Bagicha is a collection inspired by the regal extravagance of Indian textiles and architecture. They have come up with a line of traditional yet easy-to-wear designs that incorporate the diverse flora and fauna of the country. The silhouettes are ethnic with modern drapes that make them perfect for the women of today,” said the designer.

The use of fine craftsmanship and rich handloom weaves was evident in each design, whether Chanderi lehengas, Indian suits, saris, straight kurtas or anarkalis.

The highlight of the collection was comfort amalgamated with elegance. The designs will soon be available in designer boutiques and stores across India.

“Bagicha resonates with every Indian woman, irrespective of age group and skin tone. This collection is for today’s women who want pester-free clothes and at the same time want to make a grand entry in any occasion,” said the designer.
