For all fashionistas of Hyderabad, this was the place to be. 'Revive Handloom', an evening dedicated to promote the state's handlooms on National Handloom Day this Monday, saw the city's swish set along with movie stars and mana sports personalities turn up in full force.
The gala event saw models sizzle on the ramp with poise and style, while Tollywood A-listers Naga Chaitanya, Ritu Varma, Adah Sharma, Catherine Tresa and Mehreen set the glam quotient soaring.
IT Minister KT Rama Rao, who presided over the event, said, "We're here to revive this art form which is dying and make everybody aware that handloom can be trendy and fashionable too. And thanks to Samantha (brand ambassador for Telangana handlooms) for bringing the freshness, energy, enthusiasm as well as glamour by joining us in this initiative and giving her heart and soul to bring things together for this event. I doubt if she planned so much for her wedding. I do hope this event can revive and bring back handloom to the core and glory to the weaving community as well."
Stating that she was proud to be associated with the cause, Samantha added, "New age fashion is picking up so quickly that we need to revive handloom and present it with a twist."
Also spotted at this event were ace sports personalities Mithali Raj, PV Sindhu, Jwala Gutta, VVS Laxman and Pragyan Ojha among others.
